Impressionism - Impressionists wanted to explore color and light in nature. They tried to capture the effects of time of day or different weather conditions. They used complementary colors to create shadows instead of using brown or black. They wanted to push the boundaries beyond just analysis of color and light to achieve symbolic or emotional meaning in their work.
